Scrap The Bike Lanes

Our city is in a debt crisis and our current mayor’s main concern is to add more bike lanes.
Bike lanes add annual maintenance costs which tax payers have to pay for.

What is so wrong with riding your bike on Meewasin Trail?  You know that trail that the city has poured millions and millions of dollars into so you can walk and ride your bike on it. Then we have a sidewalk which also costs money which people walk and ride their bikes on. Then right beside that trail and sidewalk we poured even more money into a bike lane that goes to the exact same place?

Bike lanes cause confusion and traffic congestion. People are trying to get home to their families after work so they can go for leisure bike rides with them, but these bike lanes cause even longer delays during what is an already chaotic rush hour.

Not everyone rides bikes to and from work. Pretty much everyone has duties before and after work such as dropping kids off and picking kids up before and after work or getting groceries after work. People like the idea of a morning coffee on the way to work, or at least have time to sit and have a coffee before work. If they rode bikes to work then that is stripped of them. Let’s just face it to the bike lane pushers that want everyone to ride bikes at all times, people have extremely busy lives. They don’t have time to go on bike rides before and right after work. You can’t carry kids, groceries, or purchased mall merchandise on a bike. I can’t imagine carrying handfuls of shopping bags and juggling kids in anything but a car, especially in -30 degree weather. Only those who have no such responsibilities are able to use bikes as a commute which is very few people.

You can’t turn right on a red light when there is a bike lane beside you. So now you have to spend all of this time waiting even longer to turn right when you could be well on your way.

This bike lane idea is absolutely ridiculous! ALL bike lanes have to go. Now we have to spend money into getting rid of all the bike lanes and return these roads back into a normal state.

The more bike lanes this mayor makes the more it's going to cost to get rid of them. You can blame the current mayor for the additional future expenses that's to come with dismantling these bike lanes and restoring our roads because there is no way that these bike lanes are here to stay.
